Disaster Risk Reduction Activities in Ban Nupo Camp, Umphang District, Tak Province

On March 12, 2014, COERR and organizations concerned organized the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) activities in Ban Nupo camp in order to raise awareness of refugees including children and youth through training about fire prevention, first aid and marching campaign for community awareness.

160 children, youth and committee actively participated in this training. They are eager to express their ideas and are happy if further training will be held soon.

Lecture about the causes of fire, fire triangle and fire extinguishment.

Demonstration with participation of youth how fire starts by using different testing materials and how to block the starting fire from further burning by cutting off the oxygen supply so that fire would be put out.

Youth observed First Aid Demonstration for injury cases.

Demonstration was shown how to save children and elderly from a burning house. In case of fire, children must be helped first, followed by elderly.There was also demonstrtation how to put out a fire by using many fire fighting materials such as fire hooks, fire swatters and extinguisher.
